Alice Bach was born April 6, 1942, in New York City. She received her B.A. in 1963 from Barnard College, and started her career as an assistant editor for Random House Publishing Company in 1964. In 1966 she became an associate editor at Harper and Row Publishing, Inc., and then senior editor for Books for Young Readers at Dial Press in 1969. In 1973 she became a consultant for the Beford-Stuyvesant Writers' Workshop; beginning in 1979 she spent two years as an adjunct professor of ...
